Emerson Boosts Investments in Chelyabinsk to Help Drive R&D and Sales Growth in Russia and CIS

CHELYABINSK, Russia–(EON: Enhanced Online News)–Emerson (NYSE: EMR) today announced it has signed a new cooperation agreement with South Ural State University to support and promote research, teaching and training related to advanced manufacturing processes, with a special focus on process automation technologies for the oil and gas industry.

Emerson, through its Emerson Process Management business, has had a significant presence in the Chelyabinsk region since 2004 when it become an investor in and partner of Metran Industrial Group, based in Chelyabinsk. In 2009, Emerson fully acquired Metran and made it part of its Emerson Process Management business. Since then Emerson has made significant investments in Chelyabinsk, including the establishment of a Global Engineering Center and partnering with South Ural State University on various research and training initiatives. More than 900 of Emerson’s 1,500 employees across Russia and the CIS are in Chelyabinsk, and many of Emerson’s engineers in Chelyabinsk are South Ural State University graduates.
